Global Broadcast Deal Secured — Kigali GP to Reach 500 Million Viewers
A landmark broadcast agreement has been signed covering 180 territories, with Formula One Management confirming the Kigali Grand Prix will be available to over 500 million viewers worldwide, including free-to-air coverage across all 54 African nations.
Formula One Management has announced a landmark broadcast agreement that will make the Kigali Grand Prix available to an estimated 500 million viewers across 180 territories. The deal, described by FOM as the most geographically comprehensive in the sport's history, includes a groundbreaking commitment to free-to-air coverage across all 54 African nations.
The African broadcast package has been structured as a public service obligation, with FOM agreeing to provide the race feed at no cost to qualifying free-to-air broadcasters across the continent. The arrangement is designed to maximise accessibility for African audiences and is expected to introduce Formula One to tens of millions of first-time viewers.
"We have always said that bringing Formula One to Africa was about more than just adding a race to the calendar," said FOM CEO Stefano Domenicali. "This broadcast deal reflects that commitment. Every person on this continent who wants to watch the Kigali Grand Prix will be able to do so, for free, on a screen near them."
In addition to the African free-to-air package, the deal includes enhanced digital rights that will allow FOM's own streaming platform to offer live coverage in markets where no traditional broadcast partner has been secured. The platform will also carry a dedicated Kigali Grand Prix documentary series, produced in partnership with Rwandan filmmakers, in the months leading up to the race.
Advertising inventory around the Kigali broadcast has already attracted significant interest from global brands seeking to reach African audiences. KigaliF1 commercial director Diane Uwera confirmed that the advertising packages for the African broadcast window are "substantially oversubscribed", with final allocations expected to be confirmed by the end of November 2029.
